Ph.D. After 4 Year Graduation: By changing Macaulay’s education policy of the British period, the education policy of New India has opened new and easy ways for the students. With the implementation of the New Education Policy 2020, graduates dreaming of PhD will not have to worry about pursuing a Masters course. The student who will do 4 years graduation course will be able to do PhD directly. University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Jagdish Kumar said on Wednesday that students with a four-year bachelor’s degree will now be able to pursue PhD directly.
The UGC chairman has said that the three-year graduation course will not be discontinued until the ‘4-year program’ is fully implemented. The UGC was engaged in preparing a new curriculum and credit framework for undergraduate programs for a long time. The new curriculum issued by UGC is based on NEP 2020. Under this, there will be flexibility in the rules and students will also get more facilities than before. Under which now after doing four years of undergraduate, students will be able to do PhD. They will not need to take admission in Master’s degree programme.
what is new curriculum
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been changed in the new Curriculum and Credit Framework issued by UGC. Students who complete one year or two semesters will get a certificate in the chosen field. While students will get diploma after doing two years or four semesters. Whereas, Bachelor’s degree will be given after three years or 6 semesters. Apart from this, after completing four years or eight semesters, the student will be given an Honors degree. After the fourth year, students who have secured 75 percent or more marks in the first 6 semesters can choose the research stream. This research can be done in the major discipline.
